Twenty years ago, our founder, Jeff Ericson, heard a man speak about the extreme poverty faced by rural communities in Central America. That man was Skip Li, founder of Agros International—a nonprofit dedicated to helping farmers purchase their own land and break the cycle of poverty.

Having recently tried his hand at coffee roasting, Jeff had a thought: What if we could support Agros through coffee? Inspired, he began sourcing the highest-grade beans—organic, shade-grown, and fairly traded—and roasting them in his barn on Camano Island. Before long, cars were lining up in his driveway, eager to grab a bag before he ran out.

Today, Camano Island Coffee Roasters ships the top 1% grade of coffee to thousands of coffee lovers across the country—roasted and delivered within 48 hours for the freshest experience possible. And every Coffee Lovers Club shipment gives back to Agros, helping them continue their transformative work.

To date, 48 Agros villages have been established across Central America, breaking the chains of poverty for over 24,000 farmers.

In recent years, we’ve expanded our impact. In addition to supporting Agros, we now partner with Food 4 Farmers, an incredible nonprofit helping coffee farmers diversify their crops—introducing tilapia fish farming and beekeeping. This diversification provides food security for families when coffee crops fail and offers a vital secondary source of income.
