English Boom

In the 1920s and ’30s, English Boom was a bustling log yard at the north end of Camano Island, storing up to 15 million board feet of timber—enough to build 1,500 homes. Today, its weathered pilings stretch across the tide flats of Skagit Bay, silent reminders of a once-thriving industry.

Thanks to the Friends of Camano Island Parks, the site became a county park in 1997—the first on Camano purchased with conservation futures funds
